Timesavers®

Often the first step in finishing, Timesavers® metal finishing has become a critical step in preparing parts for other finishing processes. Timesavers® equipment allows Diamond to accurately deburr, round off edges, precision grind and polish.

Anodizing

Anodizing is an especially beneficial finishing process that is most commonly used with aluminum. Titanium and magnesium can also be anodized, but steel and stainless steel-based products cannot be anodized. Anodizing improves durability and overall product reliability by increasing product lifespan, achieving color stability, improving aesthetics making it easy to clean and maintain the product.

Chromate Finishing

Chromate finishing is the most common type of conversion coating which is used to protect many metals, especially aluminum, from corrosion. It also protects aluminum, zinc, copper and magnesium. Carbon steel cannot be chromated directly. Chromate conversion coatings can also be used as a decorative finish, pre-paint primer or to retain electrical conductivity.

Electropolishing

Electropolishing is an electrochemical and reverse plating process that removes the outermost layer on a metal component to smooth its surface and alleviate any microscopic imperfections from the original finish. Electropolishing is a highly efficient process that improves surface finish, increases corrosion resistance, and achieves passivation (removal of free iron from the surface of a part). During the process, metal parts are placed in a tank filled with phosphoric and sulfuric acid. Cathodes on the bottom of the tank are activated with a positive electric current. The result is a consistent, high-gloss, chrome-like appearance.

Powder Coating

Available in practically any color and extremely effective at protecting metal from fingerprints, scratches, and rust, powder coating is commonly used to coat metal. Powder coating is applied electrostatically and cured with heat or UV light. This achieves a harder finish than conventional paint.

If the color you want is not shown, provide us with a Pantone® number or federal standard color number, and we will check with the manufacturer as to its availability. To ensure proper durability, provide information about your application or specify epoxy for indoor use or polyester for outdoor use.

Custom colors including Pantone® colors are available for special orders.
